Duration:
October 01, 1999 to September 30, 2004
Administrative Advisor(s):
Dale Gallenberg (SD) - Research
NIFA Reps:

Statement of Issue(s) and Justification:

Objectives

  1. Provide a venue to review current research and critique future research plans on physiological principles, ecology and techniques related to production efficiency, quality, and management of forage crops and grassland ecosystems.
  2. Foster collaborative research and minimize duplication of research efforts by determining common research needs, interest and strengths.
  3. Identify emerging forage-related problems and stimulate research on high-priority physiological, ecological and management problems.
  4. Identify and discuss the physiological mechanisms mediating the environmental and genetic responses of forage crops and grassland ecosystems.
  5. Communicate advances in forage physiology and management to colleagues in research, teaching, and Extension programs in the region, the U.S. and the world. This will be accomplished through joint publications, annual reports, symposia, or the Internet.
  6. Encourage professional and intellectual development among members, their staff and students.
