Dear Colleagues,

As were getting near spring, Ive started making plans for this years meeting of the NCERA-87 Cow-calf Nutrition and Management Committee on June 9 and 10 in Ames.

Tentatively, well plan to discuss station reports and have the business meeting on Tuesday morning, early Tuesday afternoon, and Wednesday morning. Later on Tuesday afternoon, Ive tentatively scheduled Dorian Garrick and Dan Loy to give presentations before we go out for a trip to the ISU Beef Nutrition Farm and the Rhodes Research Farm.

We have reserved a block of rooms at the Holiday Inn at 2609 University Blvd. They can be contacted at 515-268-8808. Please make your reservations by June 1.

Also, Id appreciate it if youd let me know your plans by May 15 so we can make arrangements for transportation, food and drinks. Obviously, other faculty, post-docs and graduate students are welcome. We will provide transportation from Des Moines for those of you flying in if you need it.

As I recall, a group of you that are golfers have went to a local course for a match on the Monday afternoon before the meeting. Not being a golfer, Ive asked Dan Morrical if hed take charge of this activity if there is still the interest. Please let me know by May 1 if you are, so we can make arrangements.

I hope that you make it to the meeting. Ill send a more detailed schedule as we get closer to the meeting. Please let me know if you have any questions or comments regarding the arrangements.

Regards,

Jim

For those of you flying in, Laramie does have turboprop service from Denver, 3 flights/day. However, the ride is very bumpy (especially in June), and can be quite expensive. As people make their travel plans, we (my graduate student, I mean) would be happy to provide van service from Denver via Ft. Collins for those flying into Denver or attending BIF in Ft. Collins.
