- The first meeting and writing session of the w_temp1187 Obesity and Nutrition committee has been authorized for October 28, 2004, in conjunction with the National Obesity Prevention Conference, October 25-27 in Bethesda, Maryland. The Conference will be held at the Hyatt Hotel in Bethesda, Maryland. A block of rooms has been held at the rate of $150.00 per night. Please call the hotel at 301-657-1234 to reserve a room and mention the Conference for the special room rate. The USDA has a registration page at: www.usda.gov/Newsroom/indexNOPC.html to register for the conference. Only 400 participants will be able to register, if you plan to attend the conference please register as soon as possible. On Thursday, October 28th 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Waterfront Center, 800 9th, St., SW in Washington, D.C., Room 3455, the w_temp1187 group will meet with the NC203 committee, which is another multi-state research group on obesity. The groups will coordinate objectives on each project so duplication of effort does not occur. The groups will continue their work separately in the afternoon to write objectives. Directions to the Waterfront Center can be found at: www.csrees.usda.gov/about/visit.html Visitors must check in at the guards desk (have a photo ID) and go through the metal detectors before taking the elevators to the third floor. Signs will direct you to the meeting room on the third floor. A dinner will be planned for both groups the evening of Wednesday, October 27th at 6:00 p.m. at: Capitol City Brewing Company, 2 Massachusetts Avenue, NE, Washington, D.C., (202) 842-2337 -- Located just outside the front entrance of Union Station, next to the U.S. Postal Museum. If you get there early, the reservation is under Pardini. We should have a private dining room toward the back of the restaurant. You can share a cab or grab the Metro. Youll order directly from the menu but we will not be able to have separate checks&bring cash!
