Annual meeting of NCERA-190 will be held in conjunction with the Annual Meeting of WERA-039, "Coordination of Sheep and Goat Research and Education Programs for the Western States". A joint meeting is especially appropriate because of similar sheep and goat interests.

The plan is for NCERA-190 members to gather in Corvallis on Sunday, June 3, hold their joint presentations/discussion June 4-5, and have a fairly local tour on June 6.

Greetings!

Just a reminder of the upcoming meeting in June. I've attached a tentative schedule. Let me know whether I've forgotten anything.

I'm going to give you telephone numbers for the local motels. Booneville is a small town, but you still may want to reserve a room in advance. It is most convenient to fly into Fort Smith. There are rental cars or I can pick you up at the airport if arranged in advance. It is about a 45 minute drive to Booneville from the airport.

Motels: Countryside Inn 479-675-4900 Bulls Inn 479-675-2036 Holiday Capri Motel 479-675-2203

I'll send directions as the time approaches. Until then...

Additional Info:
The meeting is scheduled for June 20 and 21, 2005, immediately prior to the Hair Sheep Workshop. Information listed for travel and housing in the Workshop announcement also applies to the NCR-190 meeting:

A block of rooms has been reserved under 'NCR-190' in the Hilton Garden Inn, Colonial Heights, VA (804-520-0600) at a rate of $74/night, and will be held until June 1.

The closest airport to Petersburg/Colonial Height is Richmond, VA. Dr. Wildeus will try to arrange for a couple of scheduled pick-ups from the airport, once he receives flight information from participants, but there is a shuttle company (Groome's Transport) servicing the Richmond Airport area that can be used to travel to the hotel.

The meeting will be held at the Extension Pavilion on the VSU Research Farm. Stephan will have a bus to provide transport between the hotel and the Pavilion.

There is no firm agenda as of yet, but the plan is to have all of Monday, and until 2 to 3 PM on Tuesday set aside for station reports, business meeting and discussion. There will be a tour of the small ruminant facilities later on Tuesday afternoon, followed by a dinner jointly with participants of the Hair Sheep Workshop.

Dr. Wildeus is also planning to arrange an informal trip to Colonial Williamsburg with emphasis on their heritage breeds preservation program (which includes the Leicester Longwool sheep) on Sunday afternoon for those interested. On Sunday evening, June 19, an informal reception at Dr. Wildeus' home is planned.
